You raise your day rate from $500 to $600. How many booked days can you lose before you earn less?

20 days × $500$10,000

17 days × $600$10,200

Three days in twenty can go, and you still come out $200 ahead.

The rule for any rate: divide the rise by the new rate. Here, $100 ÷ $600 is one day in six.

Example figures, for one month of billing.

Whether your clients would stay is your call. Lose fewer than one day in six, and the rise pays.
